Tomatoes

I had these in the house for a while before they bore fruit. I wonder how long it will take for them to ripen.

I cut some tomato branches and brought them indoors for decoration. I just love green growing things in my kitchen. I put them in some old wine glasses filled with water. Lovely

Some of the tomato plants I’m growing indoors. The trick is to make sure they get lots of sunlight.

The tomatoes are ripening, finally. It’s been a mild summer…we only had a few days of real hot weather. I need to get at those weeds, WOW

I grew some tomatoes indoors this year like I usually do. Here is one of the pots in the kitchen. Please ignore the dirty floor and stove! I’ve been slacking on housecleaning LOL. Growing tomatoes indoors requires lots of sunlight!

In the middle of eating this lovely dish I thought, hey now, I grew this food! well everything but the rice
Okra and tomatoes sauteed in a little olive oil with fresh garlic over white rice(and it’s no-salt, low-fat too!)

I didn’t grow many things up on the balcony this year; I usually have pots ringed all around the balcony. But time was an issue this year with the bookstore an stuff. I grew peppers, okra, and tomatoes on the balcony, and we even had a few pots of blackberries growing.

I have so many volunteer tomato plants growing in the compost still it’s unreal. My son S-bop picked out some and put them in the garden with the other tomato plants.

It’s hard to believe that in a month the tomato plants will be as high as the stakes and bearing fruit! I can’t wait, garden [...]

When my daughter was at the thrift shop the other day someone dropped off a bunch of tomato plants, offering them to anyone! They said they had too many. Nice!

I pulled half of my tomato plants today, as it is finally getting cold here in Northeast Ohio. I had lots of baby tomatoes and some beefsteak tomatoes in varying stages of ripeness. I will set the green ones in the window to ripen. They won’t taste as good as [...]

As you can see the plants are dying though. Photos were taken November 3rd, I just picked all the ripe tomatoes and will pull the plants this afternoon if I have time. I ended up with over 50 baby tomatoes from this morning’s harvest.

Some lovely tomatoes! I planted sooooo many tomato plants. I pick almost daily and every day there are even more coming ripe, and the plants are STILL flowering, still putting out blooms! The cherry tomato plants are so tall and heavy many of them wore down their stakes.

A baby acorn squash and 2 big tomatoes in various stages of ripening.

You know the carrots I pulled from my garden the other day? I put the tops in old wines bottles filled with water. They’ll stay fresh for a week or so. I think they are so pretty!

Some cherry tomatoes and turnip greens. I have yet to dig up the turnips because I don’t really like turnips; I just plant a bunch each year because I ADORE turnip greens. I need to get at them soon though.
