Mid-December and the indoor tomatoes are ripening. last of the garden stuff!
I had these in the house for a while before they bore fruit. I wonder how long it will take for them to ripen.
I cut some tomato branches and brought them indoors for decoration. I just love green growing things in my kitchen. I put them in some old wine glasses filled with water. Lovely
Drying out this corn cob and saving the seeds for next year. How do I dry it out? Just peel the husks and leave the cob out to open air indoors. Once dry, you can just pick the dried seeds off.
Although the sunflowers in the garden grew to size, the ones on the side of the house did not. I am not sure why…the ground there is very shallow. I’ll dig in some compost this year and let it rest next year.
Some of the tomato plants I’m growing indoors. The trick is to make sure they get lots of sunlight.
A few pics from my balcony garden! above is Bell Pepper Cherry Tomatoes Okra More Bell Pepper
The tomatoes are ripening, finally. It’s been a mild summer…we only had a few days of real hot weather. I need to get at those weeds, WOW
S-bop helping me get the garden under control back in August. This part of the garden was so overrun with weeds I said forget it! and had S-bop mow it down. What was here was green beans, turnips, and yellow squash. We picked the remaining beans and squash and pulled the turnips, then mowed everything [...]
I grew some tomatoes indoors this year like I usually do. Here is one of the pots in the kitchen. Please ignore the dirty floor and stove! I’ve been slacking on housecleaning LOL. Growing tomatoes indoors requires lots of sunlight!
The apple tree put out a lot of fruit this year. We get some daily!
Some pics of the garden from early August. I really let the garden go this summer, it just ran wild. Still, I was able to harvest some things.
How my kitchen window looks this month. I love green growing things in my house. Some of them are bean plants I uprooted accidentally while weeding the garden, some are wild flowers I picked as buds that will blossom, and some are various plants growing around the house.
The sunflowers popped, I had completely forgotten about them. The garden has gone feral on me due to my neglect. I planted a bunch of sunflowers among the corn, squash and beans. The corn has gone to sh*! but the sunflowers are pretty
The turnips are ready, been ready. I harvested some the other day. We usually cook them in chili or soups and stews. I really LOVE turnip greens so basically grow them for that.
I’m behind on posting pics, this are from early last month. The boys helped me in the garden. We needed to transplant lots of stuff.
The mint finally exploded in the garden! We have so much mint! Excitement! I pulled some and stuck it in my blue glass jars in my kitchen, as I like pretty green growing things everywhere in the house. The mint plants have taken to the water, though I don’t know how long they will live. [...]
I’ve already got corn, beans, and squash growing separately but decided to start some more together. This is called a 3 sisters garden. These types of plants grown very well together and benefit each other. The seeds I’m using are all from last year’s crops. They are red bean, yellow corn, and acorn squash. familyearthprint.com
Seems like the apple tree was just in full bloom the other day. Here are some baby apples! thanks for visiting familyearthprint.com
We are going to get A LOT of apples this year! It’s been a few years since it’s bloomed so fully like this
Went to the garden to weed and get some seedlings in the ground, and saw the mint was spreading out and growing really well. Finally! Everyone is always like oh no, you don’t mint in your garden; it will take over and you will have too much of it. Well, we love mint tea. It [...]
The apple tree in bloom, we are going to get a lot of apples this year, yay!
Garden stuff in newspaper pots plugging along. Going in the ground soon!
My sons dug trenches in the garden, dug in compost, and cleaned up the yard. They are such a big help! Big pics are some turnips and carrots from last year we missed, they survived winter! Most of them were soggy and ruined, but a few were ok. Thanks for visiting FamilyEarthprint.com!
