I got this question on flickr and thought the answer would make a good blog post:

My garden is L-shaped. Originally it was rectangle shaped and had no border up until 2006:

In 2007 I extended the garden, adding another ‘wing’ to make it L-shaped. I used large rocks and old shoes for the border. This spring for my Mother’s Day present my husband put in wood borders. This is what it looks like now:

The garden is very spacious. The long side of the L-shape is24ft long and over 7ft wide. The arm side of the L-shape is 24ft long and about 5ft wide. I have plenty of room to plant what we need. We get good use out of this garden!
