My yard is full of ants and they were all in my garden. I had no problems but I have heard other gardeners complain that ants affect their harvest. My compost didn’t have ants in it but it had worms and grubs and snails and pill bugs. Since those creatures live in the dirt anyway (as do ants) I don’t see how they could not be useful in the compost which was going in the dirt (garden). If you want to minimize ants from getting into your compost, start a new batch and keep it covered with a tight lid at all times.
