No, we’re not a vegan family, though I would like us to be. We are lacto-ovo vegetarians. We don’t eat any animal, fish or bird flesh of any kind. We still eat chicken eggs and my kids like cheese, like mac and cheese. And we still do milk chocolate, like when I make cakes the frosting we use is usually chocolate frosting. I don’t let them eat a lot of junk so this is not a large part of our diet. Unfortunately it’s the junk foods that are the main issue the kids and I have had with becoming full vegans. The first time I tried to go vegan, after a month I was really stressing for a Snicker bar, LOL.

The dairy issue is huge for me because cow’s milk is a nursing secretion made for baby cows. It can cause a host of problems in the human body. We really, really don’t need it. I know all this but I still want a little pizza or spinach lasagna or candy bar every now and then. I have never liked meat or milk so not eating/drinking those was easy, painless, but I do like some cheeses and I do like chocolate. I have read that cheese is a little bit less harmful than milk because the lactose has broken down somewhat and other stuff, but it is my plan to eliminate cheese from my diet. I don’t know about the kids.
