Growing Potato Pot

Remember my sprouting potato?

Growing Potato Sprout

I finally got it going. My plan was
to use solely tires but we found this big old-school
washing pot in the basement when we did our clean-up. I still don’t
have tires so I’m using this to get the potato safe and covered so it
can grow. It had so many sprouts the potato part was starting to get
soggy, I think it would have died if I didn’t get it underground/underdirt.

Growing Potatoes July 2007

I’m calling a couple of auto repair shops close to us to see if I can’t get
some old tires for free. If not I’ll have to take a trip to the dump to get some.
Exciting times! Growing my own potatoes. I feel able to do this because
the kids and their friends are all old enough that I don’t have to worry about
any of them eating the green leaves (which are poisonous) and/or messing
around with the tires.
